In the heart of the historic center of the city, at a half hour by car from Milan and 15 minutes from Como, Varese, and from the Swiss border, this regal and alluring dwelling is certainly situated in a strategic position. A magnificent residence of sixteenth-century origin, today, it displays an aristocratic pride, without an ostentatious façade, and with the stately character of renaissance palaces. This is all due to a recent restoration conducted with great expertise and, above all, with a deep passion, by the current owner who was able to bring back to life, and adapt to new comforts, the members of a building that, until six year ago, was reduced to degrading conditions. The villa develops on four sides of a central courtyard and, on the internal front, opens upon a fully planted garden of approximately 1,000 square meters. The vehicle entrance is distinguished by a portico with columns that pertains to the older portion of the building. The villa is divided in two levels. The GROUND FLOOR is comprised of large rooms in the living area plus, in a separate position, two utility rooms and a state room with a sober regular space that is enhanced by the presence of a large fireplace with its original sculptured frame in marble. A large space was left for the splendid dining room with fireplace that, following an eighteenth-century enfilade perspective, communicates with a smaller living room and a magnificent kitchen also with a fireplace and pantry. The half-bath is a work of art with a mix of natural materials and hi-tech details. The SECOND LEVEL can be reached either by an internal staircase that, along its entire length, creates a mezzanine level with loft and bathroom, or by a majestic external staircase that leads to a superb antechamber. On this antechamber opens a triple luminous living room that communicates with a bedroom comprised of a fireplace and sitting room, which is very particular due to an opening onto a private frescoed chapel. From here, along a landing, are located a storage closet and a bathroom and, in a more private position, a walk-in closet and two bedrooms, one of which looks out onto a spectacular internal garden. The main section of the construction, which externally maintains its original French wrought iron balconies, is adjacent to a lower section, which probably dates back to the nineteenth century, also on two levels – ground floor and attics – that constitute a sort of filter between the main courtyard and the vast garden. The old passage between the two open spaces, represented by a barrel vault portico aligned with a main entrance – an “optical spyglass” onto the garden – is now closed with full frame windows and adjacent to the day rooms that animate the ground floor and that open onto the vast green patch of garden, which is part of the property and where, among flowered bushes, hedges, and a charming unexpected palm grove, an orangery and a greenhouse are also found. This regal and alluring dwelling is certainly situated in a strategic position the makes it a home that is very rare , yet, easily accessible. However, it is also a stately manor, which can be an ideal place for conventions or for use as corporate offices.
